London allotments paintings

On the way to central London we passed over these allotments in Beckenham, which was the starting point for these paintings based on the order and grids; but also the customisation and randomness of peoples' allotments. Its a composition that could lead to some very abstract and surprisingly spacious paintings depending on how far I decide to take the ideas. I've just scratched the surface really at the moment.

Jubilee flotilla

Last weeks jubilee flotilla was a great opportunity to get some more aerial view compositions of the Thames. So I stood in front of the tv, camera poised to get some good photos ,and here are some of the results. I'm sure these will inform some interesting paintings ;modern day Canaletto's I'm not so sure...

We had a little party on our street which went from 2pm to 11pm so the neighbours were pretty merry by the end !

New London paintings

Houseboats near Chelsea bridge ,acrylic and collage 45x45 cm

Some recent London paintings which are nearing completion - for my two man show with Neil in London in the first week of July. The aerial view photos I'm working from are pretty complex so I'm sticking to the river to give the paintings a breathing space or an open area in contrast to the mass of buildings. Having said that my next new painting will be of London allotments from directly above !

Canary wharf and the Millenium dome, acrylic 45x45 cm

Westminster bridge ( with Big Ben's shadow) acrylic 45x45 cm

Cornwall and London from above

I visited the gallery today to take some photos before the show ends in a few days. General concensus is its been a very well recieved and succesful exhibition so Neil, Sarah and I are all very happy with how its gone. I was especially surprised how much interest there was in my London paintings; and I will naturally be painting more of them for the London show in July (I'm working on one of Westminster bridge and Parliament at the moment ).

St Endellion festival cover

I was happy to be asked to provide the cover image for this Easters' St Endellion music festival , a week long calendar of classical, choral and jazz music which has attracted great talents to Cornwall since its conception in 1973. Its still going strong with many supporters including Prince Charles who wrote the introduction to the catalogue. I will hopefully be providing the summer catalogue image as well.
The painting is called Cornish Harbour and is available for sale here : http://www.beside-the-wave.co.uk/new/alasdairlindsaypg2.html
